Business writing made easy

I help clients’ subject matter experts put their thoughts into words. This requires a partnership approach, and it usually begins with an informal conversation about the target audience and key messages. However, some people find it easier to jot down thoughts in an email or share a deck they’ve prepared for an event. I adapt to individuals’ needs and preferences and aim to make the writing process as easy and enjoyable as possible.

How I work

Most clients engage me on a retained or semi-retained basis according to a set number of days per month. I can also work on a project basis where I take a brief upfront then estimate how many days will be required. Ad hoc projects are a great way to try out working together before making a longer-term commitment.

Where I work

I’m based in the UK and work from my home office, usually with the dogs snoozing at my feet. My clients are located all over the world. A major advantage for global clients is that I can facilitate collaborative thought leader content with input from experts in different time zones. I regularly work with non-native speakers of English.

Thoughts on GenAI

Most of my clients use GenAI for some of their writing but prefer thought leadership pieces to be written by a human. Some clients ask me to use GenAI as a research tool to supplement information provided by their subject matter experts. Occasionally I’m given notes prepared using GenAI and asked to make the copy sound more natural.

There’s no doubt that GenAI is impacting business communications, and its use will continue to evolve. I think it’s important to be honest and transparent about how and when it’s used, and to understand its limitations as well as its potential.

CIM AI for Copywritingh

I’m keeping up with GenAI developments, experimenting with various models in my own time, and recently completed the CIM’s AI for Copywriting course. So, if you want to use GenAI to reduce the burden on subject matter experts, I have the necessary skills in prompt engineering to achieve that goal. Similarly, I can use GenAI to quickly repurpose in-depth written content into other assets, then review and edit them as necessary.

In short, my core services are all based on my own writing. However, I can use GenAI as a tool to accelerate certain aspects of the writing process according to your own company policy.
